Since January 1, 2021, bicycles sold by a cycle professional, whether new or used, must be marked.
In order to combat theft, concealment or illicit resale of bicycles, bicycles sold new by traders must be marked since 1 January 2021. This obligation will be extended to second-hand bicycles sold by professionals from July 1, 2021. Their unique number will be entered in a database listing the identifiers to find the owners more easily. A decree published in the Official Journal on November 25, 2020 in application of the mobility orientation law is clarified by an order published on December 31, 2020.
